💪 Confident Faith That Fails

Have you ever looked back on a bad decision and wondered, "What was I thinking?"

Maybe you lost your temper. 😠

Maybe fear kept you from speaking up for your faith.

Maybe you gave in to a temptation you thought you had already overcome.

Maybe you simply found yourself drifting further from God than you ever imagined.

Those moments leave us asking one painful question:

"How did I get here?"

Peter probably asked himself that same question.

If you had asked the disciples who would be the least likely to deny Jesus, Peter would have been near the top of everyone's list.

✅ He was part of Jesus' inner circle.

🌊 He walked on water.

🙌 He boldly declared that Jesus was the Christ.

💬 He wasn't afraid to speak up when everyone else stayed quiet.

If anyone looked like they had a faith built to last, it was Peter.

But in just a few short hours, the same man who confidently promised to go to prison and even die for Jesus denied three times that he even knew Him.

How could someone fall that far that fast?

And here's the question that really matters...

Could it happen to us?

📖 This Sunday evening we'll be in Luke 22:31-62, where Jesus teaches us a truth every believer needs to hear:

Self-confident faith will fail, but Christ preserves those who depend on Him.

Peter's story reminds us that spiritual failure rarely begins with one terrible decision.

It usually begins much earlier. We slowly stop depending on Christ and begin depending on ourselves.

Together we'll discover three life-changing lessons:

🛑 Recognize your weakness.
None of us is beyond temptation. The moment we think we're too strong to fall is often the moment we're most vulnerable.

🙏 Depend on Christ before the test comes.
Jesus prepared for the greatest trial of His earthly life through prayer. Peter slept. The battle was lost in the garden long before it reached the courtyard.

❤️ Return to Christ when you fail.
Peter's denial was heartbreaking, but it wasn't the end of his story. Jesus had already prayed for him, and later He restored him. Failure didn't have the final word because God's grace was greater.

What an encouraging reminder!

No matter how long you've followed Christ, you'll never outgrow your need for Him.

The Christian life isn't about becoming so strong that you don't need Jesus anymore.

It's about learning to lean on Him more every single day. 🤲

Maybe you're doing well spiritually right now. This message will help you guard your heart against the subtle danger of self-confidence.

Maybe you've stumbled recently and you're wondering if God could ever use you again. Peter's story reminds us that Jesus specializes in restoring broken people.

And if you've never trusted Christ as your Savior, this passage points us to the greatest hope of all. ✝️

On the very night Peter failed Him, Jesus continued walking toward the cross to die for sinners. Three days later He rose again so that anyone who repents and places their faith in Him can receive forgiveness, new life, and the promise of eternity with Him.

🙌 We'd love for you to join us this Sunday evening as we continue our Built to Last: Faith in Real Life series.

Come discover how to build a faith that doesn't rest on your own strength, but on the Savior who will never let you go.

📍 We can't wait to worship with you!
