Where to Find Strength When You Have None Left

Isaiah 40:28-31
A phone with one percent battery can still look normal. The screen lights up. The apps open. It keeps working, at least for a little while.
But behind the bright screen is a warning: there is almost nothing left.
Maybe that describes you. You are still showing up, caring for people, and handling your responsibilities. Everyone thinks you are doing fine, but inside, the warning light is on.
What do you do when life keeps asking for more and you have almost nothing left to give?
The message in one sentence
When our strength is gone, the everlasting God renews those who depend on Him.
Isaiah wrote to people who felt exhausted, powerless, and forgotten. God answered them by reminding them of three important truths.
1. Remember Who God Is
“The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary.”
Isaiah 40:28
Our strength changes from day to day. God’s strength does not.
- He is everlasting. He was God before your trouble began, and He will still be God when it is over.
- He is the Creator. The God who carries creation is not overwhelmed by your situation.
- He never grows weary. Helping you does not drain Him.
- His understanding is unsearchable. He sees what you cannot see.
Your problem may be too large for you, but it is not too large for God.
Feeling forgotten does not mean God has forgotten you. Not understanding His plan does not mean He does not have one.
When you cannot trace God’s hand, you can still trust His heart.
Think about it
Have you allowed the size of your problem to shape your view of God more than the truth of Scripture?
Take one step
Read Isaiah 40:28 today. Write down three truths it teaches you about God, then pray those truths over the burden you are carrying.
2. Admit That Your Strength Has Limits
“Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall.”
Isaiah 40:30
Even the youngest and strongest people eventually become tired.
You may be stronger than someone else, but you are not stronger than your need for God.
We often feel that we must keep everything together. Other people depend on us, so we keep pushing. We hide our weariness because we do not want anyone to think we are weak.
But God is not ashamed of our weakness.
“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.”
Isaiah 40:29
Notice who receives God’s strength:
- The faint
- The weary
- Those with no might left
God does not wait for us to make ourselves strong before He helps us. He meets us when we admit that we cannot keep going without Him.
Coming to the end of your strength does not mean you have come to the end of God’s.
Think about it
Where are you pretending to be strong because you are afraid to admit that you need help?
Take one step
Within the next 48 hours, tell one trusted Christian where you are exhausted. Ask for one specific kind of prayer or practical help.
3. Depend on God for New Strength
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength.”
Isaiah 40:31
Waiting on the Lord does not mean doing nothing. It means trusting God when you cannot yet see what He is doing.
Waiting says:
“I do not know when God will act, but I know I can trust Him until He does.”
Renewed strength is not something we manufacture within ourselves. It is fresh strength supplied by God.
He may not immediately remove the burden. Sometimes He strengthens us while we are still carrying it.
Isaiah describes three ways that strength may appear:
- Mounting up: God gives strength to rise above what overwhelmed us.
- Running: God gives strength for demanding seasons.
- Walking: God gives strength to take the next faithful step.
Most of the Christian life is not spent soaring. It is spent walking with God one day at a time.
Sometimes God gives us strength to soar. Sometimes He gives us strength to run. Most days, He gives us enough strength to keep walking. That is still a miracle.
Think about it
Are you waiting on God, or are you still trying to force your way forward in your own strength?
Take one step
For the next seven mornings, spend five uninterrupted minutes praying Isaiah 40:31 over one specific burden.
If You Are Down to One Percent
A phone at one percent cannot recharge itself.
Pressing the buttons harder will not create power. Pretending the warning is not there will not help. The phone must be connected to a source outside itself.
Even then, it does not instantly jump to one hundred percent. But power begins to flow. It starts receiving what it cannot produce on its own.
If you are down to one percent today:
- Remember who God is.
- Admit that your strength has limits.
- Depend on Him for your next faithful step.
You May Need More Than Strength
Some people need God’s strength for a heavy burden. Others need more than strength to face another week. They need Jesus Christ to save them from their sins.
The gospel is not about God helping strong people become a little stronger. It is about God saving helpless sinners who could never save themselves.
Jesus died in our place and rose again. Everyone who turns from sin and trusts in Him can be forgiven and receive eternal life.
You cannot earn salvation. You can only receive it by faith.
If you have never trusted Christ:
- Admit your need.
- Believe that Jesus died and rose again for you.
- Place your life in His hands.
The God who gives strength to the weary offers salvation to everyone who comes to Him through Jesus Christ.
